School is so exhausting. Never in my life did I ever think school was tough until I got to college. My first day of classes was yesterday and I'm still tired. I had four classes back to back with nothing but ten minutes between each class. Those ten minutes were just enough to walk across campus to my next class. So here's what my day was looking like yesterday: I got to school about half an hour early so I roamed around campus until my first class was about to start. When I got to the class, I took my seat and things went as expected. My English professor seems like an ok kinda person. In any case, I don't think there'll be any major beef between us. When I left that class, I went outside to start making my way across campus to the next one. That's where I ran into him. This completely adorable guy was standing there with his schedule in his hands, looking very lost. As I was about to walk past him, he stopped me and asked if I knew where the T7 building was. I pointed him in the general direction and then he asked if I would have time to show him where it was. I agreed to show him because it was on the way to my next class anyway. When I showed him where it was, he decided to walk me across campus to my next class, which was nice of him. We talked the whole way over there and this is what I found out about him: his name is Akeem and he likes fishing, his family is also from Grenada, he plays video games and he thinks it's pretty damn cool that I also play video games. We exchanged numbers and then he hurried off to his class. He was cute so I'm not mad at all. I'm just a little worried that I'll see him again and he won't be as good looking as the first time I saw him. But whatever, I'll keep my fingers crossed. My next class was math. I fell asleep while my professor droned on and on about radicals and whatnot. After that, I went to a vending machine and picked up a caffeinated beverage that I hoped would keep me awake through my next class (art). When I got there, I had gotten the wrong room. Luckily, my professor was standing outside so I wasn't as lost as I could have been. When we got into the computer lab and settled down, my art professor made it clear right away that she was missing a few screws. She kept going on and on about how tough she is. I must admit, it kind of discouraged me because she kept saying that there should be prerequisites for the class because it's so difficult and it's mostly for graphic design majors, blah diddy blah blah blah. It sucks because that was the class I was most looking forward to and now, I'm considering dropping it. I'll give it a week and see how things go. After that was my journalism class. Before the professor even walked in, the editor in chief of the school paper (the scepter) came in and asked who would be interested in joining their staff. Of course I signed up without hesitation. Then, the professor came and I could tell that he was going to be my favorite professor. He cracked everyone up and he was just so real. It was refreshing. None of that "I'm so tough" or "I'm really laid back" bullshit. Just tell it like it is and I'll be the judge of what you are and aren't. in any case, I'm really looking forward to getting into this journalism stuff. I hope the rest of this semester goes well. Ughh…school =P Labels: in real life |
