Hey hey. I'm Sasha.
Digital storyteller,
Photographic narrator,
Hogwarts alum.
In real life, I write things. I speak fluent sarcasm. I'm unintentionally funny. My favorite thing is food. Guac is life. I'm a fountain of the most random information. I'm pretty, only because it's weird to call oneself beautiful. I'm weird in all the good ways. I live in the greatest city on Earth. I was Sasha before Beyonce was schizophrenic.
My life is stranger than fiction. But please, don't take my word for it.
My pen is mightier than my sword.

Truth is, I'm not innocent. I'm just an abstinent fireplace that doesn't wanna feel the fire kindled between her legs anymore so don't mind the ashes. They're just evidence of how brightly I can glow and I wanna glow hard like one dim star on an otherwise starless night that shines just to prove its fidelity.

  B'day shenans
Friday, June 7, 2013 || 4:29 PM
I know what you guys must be thinking;  It's already June, my birthday was in May, blah diddy blah blah blah. I know, I'm the queen of procrastination. I usually blog my birthday activities late because the two weeks between my birthday and memorial day are usually crazy in one way or another. This year, I was too busy having fun to stop and write about the fun I was having and then when I wasn't so busy, I just got kinda lazy so that's mybad. But my 25th was pretty awesome and after the initial "oh God, I'm 25, what am I doing with my life" freakout, I had a lot of fun.

The day before my birthday, I was still in the midst of my freakout. I planned to spend my day in bed, watching movies, eating junk food and mourning my youth. I admit, it wasn't my finest hour.

However, my friends had other plans. I can't say this enough, I have the best best friends. I don't even think they understand what impeccable timing they have but they are always there when I need them. So in the midst of my old lady pity party, Anderson and Joel showed up to kidnap me. We grabbed Emma and headed to Roosevelt Field Mall, followed by some games and drinks at Dave & Busters.

The next day (my actual birthday) I headed to Williamsburg for my annual b'day taco at Whirlybird and they def hooked it up for my birthday. 'Twas awesome.

I also hit up Momfuku Milk Bar for some Crack Pie and a Cereal Milk White Russian that was amazeballs.

They call it Crack Pie for a reason

Then I hopped on the train to meet JP in the city where we just hung out. It was pretty nice. We walked through central park, did a little shopping and had dinner at Carmine's. It was one of my more mellow birthdays (especially compared to last year) but I really enjoyed it.
The next morning, Anderson and Joel showed up to kidnap me again. This time, we hung out in Williamsburg where I went back to Whirlybird for a sequel of my birthday breakfast. Afterwards, we just wandered around, taking in the street art scenery. We did an impromptu photo shoot which I'll probably be blogging later and we also stumbled onto this really awesome candy store. It made me feel like a kid again, which was nice as I had been obsessing over the fact that I'm now a quarter of a century old. But, that's neither here nor there....

So it was cool and I had a lot of fun. I usually like to do any birthday celebrations the weekend after my birthday but there was this huge Myron Butler concert and Laos in Harmony was featured so that's where my saturday night was spent. No regrets though, Laos definitely did their thing as always.

I feel like I did something the Sunday after that but that entire weekend was kind of a blur so...*shrug*. The weekend after that, I definitely remember. A bunch of us went up to Harlem that Sabbath to see Anderson's brother Pastor Miggs preach. It was pretty awesome. I also remember because that was the day I wore my bowtie that I tied BY MYSELF!

Don't judge me, I'm very proud

That night a bunch of us went to Brooklyn Bowl for a late b'day celebration. The place was packed because there was a live band that night and we never actually got to bowl but the food was really good and we had a great time.

Den and I. Keri decided to document our foolishness

Taking a bite out of life

So alas, Memorial Day weekend was upon us. That Sunday, I did some light BBQ hopping. Then on Memorial Day, a bunch of us headed up to Heckscher State Park for our own BBQ. We left Brooklyn early and spent pretty much the whole day out there, grilling and playing games and laying in the sun.

I didn't get many pics and I didn't get everyone, mostly because I forgot. *shrug* When we got back to Brooklyn I headed to the city with a friend for a poetry show, presented by The Strivers Row. No pics of that either but it was freaking amazing, especially for the fact that it featured Joshua Bennett and  Rudy Francisco and I absolutely LOVE Rudy's poetry but he is never in New York. So I was pretty excited about that and they did not disappoint.

So yeahh. Those were my b'day shenanigans. Sorry this was so long. But kudos to you if you made it this far, you must be really interested in my life for some strange reason and though I can't imagine why, I thank you for your interest. Now that June is here, I can practically taste Summer and it's delicious. I hope everyone has a fun and safe Summer because I definitely plan to.
